Bob Bruttell, vice chair of the InterFaith Leadership Council, was asked recently by Rabbi Marla Hornsten of Temple Israel to help with an interfaith public service announcement to help counteract COVID-19. Rabbi Hornsten began this effort at the request of Dion Williams, director of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Faith-Based Affairs Office.
Bruttell brought together local clergy and lay leaders from the Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Jewish, and Muslim faiths to record brief video statements supporting public health measures to combat COVID-19. The religious leaders stressed the importance of these efforts as expressions of community solidarity and the Golden Rule.
